KUCHING:Award-winning educator, scientist and author from Iowa State University USA, Dr Douglas Gentile gave a talk on 'Media Impact on Children and Adults' at AZAM's conference room at Jalan Crookshank here yesterday. The first session was a discussion on media and brain development, the positive effects of educational television, the effects of media violence, video games and the power of parents. During the second session, the audience learned about how advertising uses psychological "tricks', and how the people can leam to use the power to improve children's health and wellness. Gentile's talk proved eye opening to the audience due to the extensive topics and findings covered. The talk was organised by Sarawak Development Institute (SDI) together with the Centre of Excellence for (Rural Informatics, Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas).
